Pair of Large Japanese Satsuma Ware Vases c.1920 %%alt5%% %%alt6%%
Outstanding pair of large Japanese Meiji period Satsuma ware vases c.1920. Standing 18″ tall and densely decorated with a design of numerous figures and an elephant, much of it in relief and with extensive gilding and polychrome decoration. Marks to the base of each, and a printed paper label on the base of one vase, for "Maruni & Co, Isokami Dori 6, Chome, Kobe, Japan. Manufacturer & Dealer in all kinds of porcelain satsuma ware." Maruni ceased pottery production in 1938. Some very minor wear to the gilding in places, otherwise excellent condition. Please contact us for more images, delivery and shipping quotes. Alternatively you are welcome to view and collect at our large warehouse showroom in Llandudno Junction, North Wales (approximately 45mins from Chester). We have a large and ever changing selection of genuine good quality antique furniture of all types and have twice been shortlisted for the Home and Antiques Magazine Antique Shop of the Year Award. 01492 580022.
