Rare pair of early 19th.c. Welsh stickback armchairs c.1800. Beautiful yoke shaped backrests and arms in oak raised on a gallery of twelve turned ash spindles. Shaped seats (height 14") made from 2" thick elm slabs. Turned ash legs and stretchers set at a splayed angle for stability. Note the scratch turned detail to the legs and traditional wedged joints used. With repairs to the bottom of two of the legs on one of the chairs. Otherwise presented as found with an old repair to the backrest of the other chair.
Dimensions: Width 23" Height 25" Depth 18".
