Pretty Georgian Edinburgh Silver Sifter Spoon
Very pretty Scottish silver Georgian sifter spoon with elaborate bright cut engraving up the handle front and back and with a scallop form bowl with embossed design of an exotic bird amongst flowers and reeds. This is finely chased with detailing to the feathers and foliage texture. The handle has a Hanoverian terminal to the front and drop to the back at the bowl. A long cross has been engraved to the front of the handle with a round vacant cartouche at the top. It was originally gilded and this remains quite good in the bowl and fainter to the handle and outer bowl. It is hallmarked for Edinburgh 1820/21 maker Charles Dalgleish.
It measures 6 1/4" (16cm) long and the bowl is 1 3/4" (4.5cm) wide and it weighs 24g/0.8ozt. Condition is very good with no damage or dents. Surface wear is light but as I say the gilding has faded from the handle and reverse of the bowl. Payment is accepted by bank transfer, card payments (via an online invoice, I'm afraid we cannot take payments over the telephone), Paypal and UK personal cheque. If you prefer to pay by Stripe please go to our website where we offer that option and additionally options to "Pay in 30 days" and to pay in 3 instalments, all securely supported.
Price includes UK shipping. Worldwide shipping is also available, please ask for a cost.
