It is rare to find antique compacts combined with cigarette compartments.
This antique combination case was made in 1921.
It is charming, in excellent condition & beautifully gilded.
The cigarette case / compact is fully hallmarked Chester Assay Office.
The lid is hallmarked " T & S Sterling City of Chester Year 1921 "
& the powder well lid " Sterling Year 1921 " It was made by Turner & Simpson.
The lid & base are decorated with a wonderful Art Deco design of parallel lines which in
turn are filled with tiny Art Deco chevrons.
The inner case is very sweet having a small mirror surrounded by a silver bezel below this
is the powder well which has beautifully gilding - rich, deep & authentic.
Also a little puff which looks as if it is made from
lambs wool - too coarse to be swan's down. The mirror gives a good reflection but
has a few age spots. The recess / vesta case is beautifully gilded. The elastic is still fairly tight.
This is the most stylish authentic Art Deco combination case which will certainly
please the recipient. The outer case gleams like new & is flawless - not even one tiny ding.
The combination case measures 3 1/4 " X 2 1/2 ".
