Rare Prattware plaque, Hanley, circa 1780.
A rare prattware made by James Neale and Company of Hanley, Staffordshire as detailed on an old label on the back. James Neale were manufacturing pottery in Hanley between the years 1776 to 1784. Also on the back is what looks like a collection label with a reference number.
The plaque was part of the collection of Dr. James Whitbread Lee Glaisher of Cambridge, a renowned mathematician, astronomer, and collector of early English pottery. Upon his death in 1928, he bequeathed most of his pottery collection to the Fitzwilliam Museum in Cambridge.
The condition is very good with no cracks or chips or restoration. There is, however, some very old damage around the holes on the back where the hanging string or wire was attached. This does not affect the look at the front.
UK first class postage and packaging is charged at £15.
