This is a wonderful Regency Period School teachers desk / clerks desk c1811-20.  Raised on bobbin turned supports with urn shaped lower turned feet each bobbin turn has 3 rings with the classic H stretcher to the base.  The main section has a lower drawer and upper dummy drawer.  It has turned wooden handles with diamaond shaped ebony escutcheons.  The writing flap has a lower ledge and rests on itself when up with a small gallery section to the top with a broken swan neck pediment.  To the inisde is a series of pigeon holes and drawers, sadly some of the drawers have gone astray in the midst of time adding to its charm.  An awesome and rare piece.
