Here is a fine quality antique Regency rosewood sewing worktable (circa 1820), in good original condition. The rectangular table boats a stunning rosewood grain configuration & patination to the top, above a single working compartmentalized frieze drawer, lined with quality cherry wood and hand dovetailed. The drawer retains its original brass knobs and working lever lock (with key). Further below sits a pull out storage box, which has been newly upholstered and pleated with cream silk lining on the outside and gold duck egg blue patterned silk lining to the inside. The table stands on elegant sweeping lyre ends terminating on scroll toes. A finely turned central stretcher, flanked by disc supports, unites the lyre ends to provide additional structural support. The lyre ends stand on block plinths above the original turned bun feet and original brass castors.
This worktable features a rich dark brown colour. As it boasts the original polish, it has a fantastic colour and patination this can only be achieved through age and years of care and cleaning it has received.
This item would look great in a variety of rooms from the hallway, to the living or dining room or bedroom. This truly is a very beautiful item with quality construction and is original throughout.
