Russian Marine Chronometer
A quality Russian marine chronometer for a ship or submarine. A 3 tier brass bound mahogany box with brass label numbered 555, an early issue example. A 2 day duration fusee mechanism with cut bi-metallic balance and blued steel helical balance with compensating weights. An Earnshaw design spring detent. A silvered engraved dial signed with number 555 and showing power reserve indicator and seconds with brass hands. A rotating gimball which an be locked. Circa 1940.
