LARGE SEASCAPE OF LA TURBALLE BRITTANY BY ROGER DE LA CORBIERE
I am pleased to offer for sale this very large scale oil on canvas by the very sought after and talented French artist Roger de la Corbiere.
The artist has signed the painting in the lower right hand bottom corner and has also inscribed it verso on the edge of the canvas 'La Turballe Brittany'.
La Turballe is situated to the west of Guerande in the Loire Atlantique department and has a wonderful beach, pleasure port and fishing port.
ABOUT THE ARTIST
ROGER DE LA CORBIERE, 1893-1974, was a French artist who was born in Vienna. He studied under the Russian painter Choltse, who was a great exponent of light and shade particularly in snow scenes.
He exhibited at the Paris Salon for 35 years, receiving the Silver Medal in 1954. In 1957 he received the Bronze Medal from the Salon des Independants. The French State acquired several of his paintings in 1925.
His painting are in the collections of many well known persons throughout the world.
He worked mainly from his studio in Brittany, but also spent some time in the Riviera. His daughter carried on the family tradition, painting similar scenes.
FRAME
The painting is framed in a 3 3/4" silver frame and will be supplied wired and ready to hang.

Frame size 43" x 31" - 109.25cm x 78.7cm

CONDITION
Excellent condition. There are no repairs to the canvas which is clean and taut. There is no craquelure, paint loss or stretcher marks. The frame is new.
