A set of 6 solid English oak Parliament chairs in the Gothic style after a design by AWN Pugin. Retaining the original horse hair with sprung seats and super tight strong frames. The chairs having a lovely understated wealth of details with good colour and rich patina. Now ready for a new topcoat. English, Circa 1870.

This style of chair is used in parliament buildings to this day and these are most certainly made by Crace, Holland & Sons or Gillows, the 3 high end antique furniture makers were all used to produce this chair, the first being produced in the 1840's and known as the Portcullis chair.
