Set of French boules in lignum vitae
Wonderful and rare complete set of French pétanque boules in lignum vitae, set into a display / storage box for the four pairs of boules and a single jack ball, circa late 19th century.
Being lignum vitae, they are in great condition with them being such a hard and dense wood, the identification rings carved into each pair of balls are crisp and will be happy to be used as often as you like.
I have altered a French rosewood drawer that I had spare in the workshop, fitting four java bamboo cylinders and some metal rings the boules can be displayed as shown, or you may prefer to put them in a bag in the garden shed!
The diameter of the balls in 10cm and weighs approximately 1kg.
The box measures 21 inches or 53cm wide x 10 inches or 25.5cm deep
Please note, the price does include free delivery within mainland UK Based in Uppingham, Rutland…having been in the business for 25 years focusing on mostly French and English decorative antiques and interiors from the 18th to the early 20th century, hopefully a collection you will enjoy browsing and hopefully re home some of my finds!
Viewing here in Uppingham is very welcome in my spacious barn studio but also I have a showroom based within the Uppingham Antiques Centre, which is well worth a visit and have a good lunch in town too!
