This is a wonderful engraving entitled 'Runjeet Singh and his Suwarree or Cavalcade of Seiks'. It is a steel engraving by Fisher and Son, London 1844, and it shows the whole entourage, elephants and all, of the Maharaja Runjeet Singh camped under a banyan tree on the River Sutlej. This hand coloured engraving is most attractive as it is presented in marbled mount which is set within a colourful handpainted marbled frame which suits it tremendously.
The engraving has good provenance and was part of a group collected by and hung in the home of Hon. Andrew Fraser and his wife Charlotte. (See framers label verso).
The engraving measures 41 cms by 31 cms including the frame.
