Small 17th Century Carved Oak Coffer Blanket Chest
A handsome 17th century panelled oak coffer dating from circa 1685. It has a hinged moulded edged plank lid with chip end carving and opens to reveal an interior with a candle box. In a wonderfully warm oak with good original patina, it features a triple panelled fascia over a strap work carved frieze, with an attractively carved lozenge to the central front panel.

Wear and marks commensurate with age. Some typical old repairs to the lid – some gaps run along top of lid where a piece of wood has been let in. Solid and sturdy. Back leg has been replaced at some point. Old replacement hinges. Lock not original.
