Solid Silver Table Salt Joseph Angell I 1819
This lovely antique table salt has a solid silver frame with a decorative relief-work exterior and a gilded interior. It sits on four claw feet. The frame is fully hallmarked for what we believe to be London 1819 with the maker's mark for Joseph Angell I. The table salt retains a lovely bristol blue glass liner, but we are not sure that this is original. Without its liner the piece weighs approx. 141g (4.5ozt).
Condition: Overall in good condition with some wear consistent with age and use. The silver frame has some surface wear and tarnishing, including a dented area to one side. The rim of the piece is slightly misshapen. Two of the claw feet are bent slightly, so that the piece does not quite sit flat. The hallmarks are a little rubbed.
The approx. measurements are as follows:
4.7cm high, 9cm diameter of top (to maximums). Further images are available. Please don't hesitate to contact us if you have any queries. Viewing is welcome, but please contact us before travelling as we are only open by appointment.
We can arrange delivery of both smaller items and furniture - please contact us for details and a quote. Customers are also welcome to use their own couriers if preferred.
Payment can be made by PayPal, bank transfer, cheque [UK only], and cash on collection.
