A charming and extremely rare child's bonnet of silk.
Most certainly Spitalfields and dating to circa 1760 and as such will have connections to The Huguenot weavers.
For the year it is stunning condition. Whilst of course it is somewhat fragile it is intact thanks partly to some historic repairs.
The colours are still fairly bright, the silk still shimmering with original gold thread. The gold wirework still holding shape.
This will without doubt have been a superb piece in it's day and will have been worth a fortune.
It will have belonged to a most notable family that was keen to display it's wealth by dressing a child with such extravagance!

A museum piece.

Height: 13 cm
Diameter at base: 18 cm

It will be packed with care folded flat as it has been stored previously.
The newly made stand is included at no cost.
