The original painting is in the Tate Britain, London and was painted in 1890.
Born in Glasgow, 1848-1910. Was a painter, etcher and watercolourist, specialising in pastoral landscapes.
His father was portrait painter, Norman Macbeth.
From 1871 he exhibited at the Royal Academy, the Royal Society of Portrait Painters and the Fine Art Society in London.
