Victorian Cut Glass Vanity Pot with Silver Lid, 1900
This is a charming late Victorian Cut Glass Dressing Table or Vanity Pot with a hallmarked Sterling Silver lid. The pot is diamond cut with cross-hatching and stars around the middle. The base is star cut. The Sterling Silver lid has floral and scroll decoration and a blank cartouche and is gilded on the inside.
The silver lid is hallmarked for Birmingham, 1900 and made by T.H. Hazlewood & Co. The firm was founded in the late 1880s and operated from premises in Barr Street in the heart of Birmingham's famous antique jewellery quarter. They made a wide range of personal items and remained in business into the early 1920s.
