This is a boxwood case with a wonderful patina and inside there is a glass syringe.

Research would suggest that this is for the treatment of Syphilis.

I think it is rare to find the syringe and the boxwood container together.

This would have been used to dispense mercury!

There is a slight crack in the wood at the top of the syringe please see last photograph.
