A rare 1950s Stratton "Empress" enamel cigarette or card case. This case has the most sensational white, black and gilt enamel lid and it is in superb condition. The high quality enamel and the excellent condition of this case show why vintage Stratton accessories have such a following. This accessory is so well made it will never tarnish or need cleaning. It was coated at the point of manufacture with a layer of lacquer which protects the brass and prevents tarnishing.
All clasps and hinges work perfectly. It is so typical of Stratton to feature a clever design. The cigarette clip can be moved to accommodate both lengths of cigarettes available in the 1950s - standard and king size. So this means that this case can accommodate modern cigarettes too as well as bank notes, business and credit / debit cards. The cigarette clip is signed " Stratton REG....PAT NO 851743." The inner case & back of the cigarette case are decorated with vertical stripes.
A remarkably beautiful & practical mid-century Stratton accessory!
The vintage cigarette case measures 9 1/2 cm X 8 1/4 cm & weighs 95.9 grams.
This will house modern cigarettes & business cards too.
This vintage accessory comes with an immaculate velvet pouch to protect it.
