Wedgwood 1940 Barlaston Mug Keith Murray %%alt5%%
The Iconic 1940 Wedgwood tankard designed by Keith Murray with vignettes by Victor Skellern to commemorate the opening of the electrically fired tunnel oven. This is an interesting monochrome example as it has an inscription on the base in lustre for the First Leisure Time Exhibition 1948. My guess is that the mug was manutacured in 1940 and issued later in 1948 for the exhibition held at Wedgwood. In very good condition with no chips, cracks, crazing or transfer loss. A couple of minute under glaze dust specks from firing and a tiny glaze scratch (photo 5)
