William Comyns Coffee Can & Saucer, 1909
We have for sale a charming Edwardian William Comyns and Crown Staffordshire silver and porcelain silver holder and coffee can and saucer.
The silver holder is of very typical William Comyns design of a cherub in a floral scene with the body of the holder extending to an ornate dragon handle. Fitting snugly into the holder is the original Crown Staffordshire coffee can and both the holder and coffee can are presented on a Crown Staffordshire saucer. Both the coffee can and saucer are decorated in polychrome colours depicting sprigs of roses and rose leaves on a white ground. The silver holder carries full English Hallmarks for Birmingham 1909 along with the makers mark for the excellent Victorian/Edwardian silversmith William Comyns. The saucer carries the Crown Staffordshire back stamp of the same period.
The coffee can is approximately 2 & 1/2 inches (6.5cm) high and the saucer is approximately 4 & 3/4 inches (12cm) in diameter. The silver holder, coffee can and saucer are all in an excellent antique condition with no damage or repairs.
