Arthur Simpson / A W Simpson - Furniture maker in the Arts And Crafts style.
He established his famous handicrafts workshop in Kendal. His early work was in the neo gothic style, ecclesiastical in nature. His later work a more minimal style in keeping with the Arts And Crafts period. The emphasis being the beauty of the wood, his furniture would be oiled and waxed to reveal its natural beauty. Arthur Simpson died in 1922 his workshop was continued by his son until 1950.
