Victorian Papier Mache Snuff Small Box

Description

This attractive papier mache box dates from the nineteenth century. It has a picture of the Scott Monument on the front and some details on the inside of the lid in red, which read: 'Sir Walter Scott's Monument Edinburgh, funded [not sure of this word] 1840'. It has a hinged lid with metal fixings. There are no maker's marks.

Condition: Overall in fair-good condition with some wear consistent with age and use. There is some surface scratching and wear and some foxing and marking to the picture. The metal hinge is rusted and stiff.

The approx. measurements are as follows:
2.5cm high, 9.5cm by 6.5cm.
