Description

This lovely antique carver armchair dates from the first half of the nineteenth century. It has a lovely mahogany frame very much in the William IV style, with a rounded back rail and scrolled arms. It has a nice shape and style and is of lovely quality with an attractive antique patina. The chair is supported on reeded legs at the front and swept legs at the back. It has a drop-in seat pad with later light green colour upholstery.

Condition: Overall this lovely chair is in good usuable condition with some wear consistent with age and use. There is some scuffing, knocking and wear to the woodwork as might be expected, and the chair is overall a little faded. It is solid, but there is some slight movement in the joints. The chair has some shrinkage cracking in places and shows signs of restoration and repair. There is some wood loss around one of the arm supports. There is some woodworm damage to the frame - this is not active but has been retreated as a precaution. The upholstery is more modern and is a little faded with some marks.

The approx measurements are as follows:
87cm high, 57cm wide, 54cm deep (to maximums) 47cm high to seat.
