Description

This lovely pair of hall chairs look to date from around the mid-nineteenth century. The have superb foliage carving that is very much in the black forest style. The chairs have oak frames with barley twist supports and over-upholstered seats with later upholstery. They are supported on turned and barley-twist legs with carving with turned barley twist stretchers.

Condition: Overall this lovely pair of chairs are in good usuable condition with some wear consistent with age and use. There is some scuffing, knocking and wear to the woodwork as might be expected, and the chairs are overall a little faded. They are solid, but there is some slight movement in the joints. The chairs have some shrinkage cracking in places and show signs of restoration and repair. The upholstery is more modern and is quite heavily faded with some marking and wear.

The approx measurements are as follows:
108cm high, 47cm wide, 44cm deep (to maximums) 46cm high to seat.
