Description

This lovely art deco cabinet is an original piece dating from approx. the 1920s/1930s. We believe it may have been designed by Betty Joel, although please note that we are not 100% sure of this as the piece is unmarked. It is certainly of superb quality and heavy construction with lovely veneers, both externally and within the cupboards. We believe the external veneers to be primarily walnut and the interior veneers to be bird's eye maple. The cabinet has a cupboard on the top on the left-hand side with a single removable shelf inside and an open compartment next to this. Beneath the work surface is an open compartment on the left-hand side above a drawer, and on the right-hand side is a two-door cupboard with a single removable shelf inside. The piece is supported on square feet. The doors and drawers retain their metal handles and both the cupboards are lockable. One key is present which works the locks, but this is probably not original. The escutcheons are missing.

Condition Overall this handsome piece is in good usuable condition, with some wear consistent with age and use. It is overall faded and there there is some scuffing, knocking and wear to the woodwork as might be expected. There is some light surface scratching in places.

The approx. measurements are as follows
Overall - 125cm high, 137cm wide, 41cm deep (to maximums).
