Description

This attractive vintage safe has a transfer inside dating to the reign of George VI. It is made from cast iron and is very heavy. The safe was made by the well-known maker S. Withers & Co. of West Bromwich - it has the maker's details moulded into the main key and 'S.W. & Co. 1943' has been written on the inside of the door. The safe has two small drawers inside, both of which retain their locks and working keys. The main safe door also retains its original working key. We believe the green paintwork to be original.

Condition - Overall this handsome piece is in good usuable condition with some wear consistent with age and use. There is some heavy scuffing and wear to the paintwork as might be expected and the piece is overall grubby with paint flecking. There is a heavy area of wear to the paintwork on the door around the keyhole. The paint is worn away from the handle. There is some surface rusting.

The approx. measurements are as follows:
Overall - 66.5cm high, 49cm wide, 48.5cm deep (including hinges) (to maximums).
