Description

This vintage camera was made by L. Gaumont & Cie. around 1910-1920. It has the serial number 7113. It is sold as found, and is in need of some restoration. It is not in working order, and we believe that some parts may be missing. The camera has a brass front and back, which was once finished in black. It unfolds and retains a wooden and plastic back which slides out so the metal plates can be inserted. The wood is blind-stamped 'Ste des Etablissts Paris Gaumont'. The camera retains six metal plates in a case. The plates are stamped 'Elge Brevete SGDG'.

Condition: In need of restoration. Sold as incomplete and not working. The camera is worn, grubby, and the metal parts have some surface corrosion in places. The rectangular viewfinder (?) which slides to one side is cracked with some loss. The various sliders do not seems to move easily. The metal plates are grubby, marked and have some corrosion. Only three out of six of the fabric numbered pull tabs are present. The case for the plates is badly worn, grubby and holed and the metal clasp at the top has some corrosion.

The approx. measurements are as follows:
Camera - 8cm high by 12cm wide (to maximums).
