Description

This antique plough looks to date from around the late nineteenth century. It is marked Rasoms to the blade, together with the reference number RNRL4, and 'Ridging Frame Ransomes, Sims and Jefferies' to the frame. It is constructed from cast iron with a two wheels at the front and a single furrow behind. It was intended to be drawn by horses, although it is now missing its wooden handles.

Condition: Overall suitable for display rather than use. The piece has the wear you might expect from an antique piece of agricultural machinery that has been outside for many years. It is rusted and has been over-painted over the years. The wheels do not match. One of the plough blades has been broken and re-welded at some point. It is missing its wooden handles. The bolts and joints are seized and do not move. The wheels do go round.

The approx. measurements are as follows:
71cm cm high, 322cm long, 75cm wide (to maximums).
