Description

This lovely armchair dates from c.1890 and is very much in the art nouveau style. It would benefit from some tlc, and from reupholstery. It has a lovely solid walnut frames with art nouveau style arm supports and art nouveau carving to the to back rail. The chair has an over-upholstered sprung seats and an over-upholstered back panel. The upholstery is not original. It is supported on turned legs at the front and square swept legs at the back, which terminate in original metal castors.

Condition: Overall this is an attractive art nouveau armchair, but it would benefit from being reupholstered and from some restoration work. The upholstery is grubby, worn and dated and the filling inside has moved. There is some movement in the joints of the chair, particularly to the arms. There is some scuffing, knocking and wear to the woodwork as might be expected, which is heavy in places, and the chair is overall a little faded. There are some signs of old restoration.

The approx. measurements are as follows:
Overall - 109cm high, 67cm wide, 80cm deep (to maximums) 41cm high to seat.
