Vintage Sterling Silver Dish - Canadian School

Description

This attractive dish is oval in shape and has a nice pierced design at either side. It is marked 'sterling' on the back, together with the maker's mark for Henry Birks & Sons, a well-known Canadian manufacturer. It is also marked on the back 10/28/. The dish is engraved in the middle with the following inscription: 'Presented to W.G.S. and E.S. in appreciation of their interest in St. Helen's School Dunham, Canada. 1913-23.' The piece weighs approx. 175g (5.6ozt).

Condition: Overall in good condition with some wear consistent with age. There is some surface scratching and wear. There is a small identation to the rim at one side. The piece is overall a little tarnished and would benefit from a careful clean and polish.

28cm by 16cm.
