Description

This pair of antique sugar tongs are of lovely quality. They have acorn ends, and what we believe to be cast arms and an engraved top. There are the initials WTM engraved on the top. The tongs have the lion passant hallmark on the inside of the top and a maker's mark to one side which we believe to be IS. There is no date letter, but the tongs look to have been resoldered on one side which may have obsured the date letter. From the lion passant hallmark we believe them to be pre-1821. They weigh approx. 25g (0.8ozt).

Condition: Overall in good condition with some wear consistent with age and use. They appear to have been resoldered a long time ago at one side. They are a little misshapen and there is some surface scratching and wear. The hallmarks are worn and no date letter is visible. The piece is overall a little tarnished and would benefit from a careful clean and polish.

The approx. measurements are as follows:
14cm long.
