Description

This lovely Georgian batchelor's chest of drawers dates from c.1780. It is constructed from mahogany, some solid, some veneered over solid wood. The chest is of a nice small size and consists of a pull-out slide with four graduated drawers beneath. The chest retains brass handles, escutcheons and most locks (excluding the bottom drawer lock), but please note that no key is present. The chest is supported on shaped bracket feet.

Condition: Overall this handsome piece is in good usuable condition with some wear consistent with age and use. There is some scuffing and wear to the woodwork as might be expected and the piece is overall a little faded. There is some cracking to the veneer in places. There are some significant dark marks and staining to the top and slide, and some knocking around the edges. There is some shrinkage cracking to the slide. There are some signs of restoration and repair - the feet look to have been repaired (or replaced) at some point. There are some signs of old woodworm - this is not active, but has been retreated as a precaution.

The approx. measurements are as follows:
Overall - 78.5cm high, 80.5cm wide, 51.5cm deep (to maximums).
