Description

This attractive bank of apothecary drawers date from the mid-Victorian period. They have had some alteration over the years. All the drawers retain period glass drug plaques. Some retain parts of their original lining, and one of the drawers is tin-lined. There are twenty-six drawers in total, three rows of six shelves over two rows of four drawers. They are supported on an inverted plinth base. The top and sides of the chests are more modern additions.

Condition: Overall this attractive bank of drawers are in usuable condition, but would benefit from some sympathetic restoration. They have had some alteration over the years and the top and sides of the chest are modern additions that are not of good quality. There is some scuffing, scratching, knocking and wear to the woodwork as might be expected and the piece is overall a little faded. There are some signs of repair in places and some of the drawer runners have had attention. Some of the drawer handles are replacements. The glass plaques have some wear and there is some corrosion to the backings. Two of the glass plaques are broken, one with some loss. There are some stickers - new and old - and some writing in places to the tops and frames of the drawers.

The approx. measurements are as follows:
Overall - 79.5cm high, 130cm wide, 24cm deep (to maximums).
