Description

This lovely bisque-head doll dates from c.1920. She has the Schoneau & Hoffmeister star mark, together with '1909 5 1/2 Germany' moulded into the back of her neck. She has a bisque head with glass sleeping eyes (which are stiff and one with eyelid not attached), and an open mouth with four teeth. She has a jointed composition and wood 15-piece body. She is wearing a more modern ladies' outfit with hat, leather shoes and parasol included.

Condition: Overall in good condition with some wear consistent with age. She has some grubbiness and scuffing to the paintwork of her head, including some scuffing to her cheeks, and some significant glue residue around her wig. Her sleeping eyes are stiff and one eyelid appears not to be attached to the eye, meaning that although her eyes move only one appears to be asleep. Her wig is more modern and partially detached. Her body has some grubbiness and wear as might be expected, and some manufacturing imperfections. It shows signs of having been touched up in places. There is some minor chipping to her fingers. Her clothing is good condition with some wear, grubbiness and slight discolouration. Her shoes are scuffed.

The approx. measurements are as follows:
60cm high.
