Description

This attractive chest of drawers dates from c.1820. It is constructed from primarily solid mahogany with simple string inlay around the very edge of the top. The chest consists of two small drawers over two long drawers. All the drawers retain their original paper lining, their locks, and replacement brass handles. No key is present. The chest is supported on tall shaped bracket feet, which may be later replacements.

Condition: Overall this handsome piece is in good usuable condition with some wear consistent with age and use. There is some scuffing and wear to the woodwork as might be expected and the piece is overall a little faded. There is some shrinkage splitting to the drawer bases and some staining to the lining. There are some signs of restoration - there is a repaired shrinkage split to one side and the bracket feet look to have been replaced. There is some verdigree to the handles and some rusting to the locks.

The approx. measurements are as follows:
Overall - 79cm high, 88.5cm wide, 47cm deep (to maximums).
