Description

This lovely armchair dates from c.1860. It would benefit from some tlc, and from reupholstery. It has a lovely solid mahogany show frame with scrolled arms and decorative carving. The chair has an over-upholstered sprung seat and an over-upholstered button back. The upholstery is not original. It is supported on scrolled legs with carved shoulders at the front and square legs at the back.

Condition: Overall this is an attractive Victorian armchair, but it would benefit from being reupholstered and from some restoration work. The upholstery is grubby, worn and dated and some of the edging is loose. There is some movement in the joints of the chair, particularly to the arms. There is some scuffing, knocking and wear to the woodwork as might be expected, which is heavy in places, and the chair is overall a little faded. There is some wood loss to the bottom of the feet in places and some signs of old woodworm - this is not active, but has been retreated as a precaution. The chair would originally have had castors, which are now missing.

The approx. measurements are as follows:
Overall - 93.5cm high, 66cm wide, 79cm deep (to maximums) 41cm high to seat.
