Description

This decorative set of toleware balance scales look to date from the first half of the twentieth century. They are hand-painted and the middle of the scoop features a nice still life painting of fruit. The paintwork certainly has some significant age.

Condition: Overall in good condition with some wear consistent with age and use. The scales have some surface rusting and corrosion and there is some significant chipping and wear to the paintwork. They are overall grubby. Felt rests have been attached to the scoop holder, but these are worn and would benefit from replacement. Please note that the scales do not balance currently and so may need some adjustment. They are probably more suitable for display than use.

The approx. measurements are as follows:
Scoop - 39cm long, 29cm wide
Scales - 41cm long.
