Slades Antiques

Description

This collection includes one vintage light fitting and three shades. We believe the fitting to be for gas, and it is made of metal. It is marked near the top "Nico", together with a patent number and what looks to be the date 1922. The fitting has a ceramic top which looks to be original. The fitting only fits one shade, although three shades are present. We cannot be sure whether the shade is original to the fitting, although they certainly have some age. The shades have a pointed shape and a textured finish. There are no maker's marks on the shades.

Condition: Overall in fair-good condition with some wear consistent with age and use. The metal fitting has some corrosion and rusting and there is some cracking to the metal around the neck and backplate. The ceramic part of the fitting has some grubbiness and wear and is overall crazed. The shades are grubby and have some manufacturing flaws as might be expected. They have some nibbling around the necks.

Light fitting - 38.5cm long
Shades - 15cm long, 8.5cm outer diameter of fitting.
