Description

This antique pot is an early piece. We would estimate it to date from the second half of the eighteenth century. It has blue and white transfer-printed decoration featuring rural scenes, including a castle, a mill with water-wheel and a solitary figure crossing a bridge. We think that it may be a pen rest as the dividers have holding grooves, but please note that we are not sure of this. There are no maker's marks or labels. It is of nice quality.

Condition: Overall in good condition with some wear and damage consistent with age and use. There are some manufacturing imperfections as might be expected. There is some crazing and some chipping in places. There is a chip with twin hairline cracks to one end. The piece is grubby and has some surface marking and wear.

The approx. measurements are as follows:
2.5cm high, 17cm long, 6cm wide.
