Description

This attractive ceramic sake cask is a nice decorative piece. We believe it to be of Japanese origins and to date from around the first half of the twentieth century. It has twin handles, a filling hole in the top with a wooden stopper and a dispensing hole near the bottom with a wooden stopper. There are no maker's marks to the base. It is marked No. 135 to the back.

Condition: Overall in good condition with some wear consistent with age and use. There are some manufacturing imperfections as might be expected. There is some surface scratching, wear and grubbiness and some discolouration. There is some minor chipping around the base.

The approx measurements are as follows:
33cm high, 29cm diameter (to maximums).
