3 x George VI Silver Teaspoons, J. Rodgers, 1937
This is a fine set of 3 George VI Sterling Silver Teaspoons in the Hanoverian Point & Thread pattern. The teaspoons have a gothic style letter "D" engraved at the top of the stems.
The spoons are well made in a good gauge of silver by Joseph Rodgers & Sons Ltd in Sheffield and date to 1937. Joseph Rodgers was a famous firm of cutlers and silversmiths with a history dating back into the 17th century. They held a Royal Warrant as cutlers from Queen Victoria. Sadly their business was brought to an end by the Second World War.
Condition is very good with no dings or dents and just the superficial surface wear that you would expect after over 80 years of use. Please make sure to view all the photographs.
The teaspoons are each 12.8cm / 5.1" long and the set of three weighs in at a substantial 60.5g / 2.13oz of solid Sterling Silver.
The hallmarks on the underside of the stems are well struck and clear to read. They show the lion passant for Sterling Silver, the crown assay mark for Sheffield, the date letter "u" for 1937 and the JR & S makers' mark for Joseph Rodgers & Sons Ltd alongside the star and plus sign company trademark.
Shipping in the UK is £5 by Royal Mail Tracked 24.
