Alexander Ritchie Celtic Mirror Alexander Ritchie Iona Celtic Art %%alt5%% %%alt6%%
A fine example from the workshop of Alexander Ritchie's Iona Celtic Art. It is in excellent condition, no pitting or blemishes on the mirror.
It measures 68 cm by 41 cm.
The Celtic weave pattern is the same design, that can be found on a salver illustrated in E. MacArthur's book 'Iona Celtic Art' page 37 photo number 7b.
Ritchie set up the workshop with his wife Euphemia, on the Hebridean Island of Iona in 1900, making and selling souvenirs and religious pieces to the many Pilgrims and visitors to the Holy Island. Taking inspiration from the Celtic crosses and symbols that mark the graves of Scottish Chieftains and Kings.
