Antique Dressing Table Mirrors
Also known as Dressing Mirrors, Toilet Mirrors or Vanity Mirrors. Found in the bedroom, originally designed for wealthy ladies of the court as part of a lady's dressing set. These free standing table mirrors first appeared in the 17th century often on trestle supports. By the early 18th century they became more substantial on sturdy plinth bases with drawers. Most mirrors were initially rectagular in shape with the oval shape appearing from the late 18th century onwards.
