Don Pottery Blue & White Tureen, Stand & Cover Don Pottery English  Blue and White Yorkshire %%alt5%% %%alt6%%
This beautifully-shaped Antique Blue & White Transfer Printed Tureen, Stand and Cover was made at the Don Pottery (1790-1834), Swinton, Nr Rotherham, Yorkshire about 1820. It is decorated in their Named Italian Views Series Pattern.
The Tureen has a view from The Augustini on one side and Brundisium (now Brindisi) on the other. Hidden away in an arched wall is the name Don.
The Stand shows The Grotto of St. Rosalie near Palermo.
The Cover is decorated with 2 unnamed scenes.
The borders have image of Putti which were a popular motif of this Pottery.
Special attention is drawn to the wonderful Lion Mask handles on the Stand.
Condition: The overall condition is good. There are no repairs or restoration. There are a few, small, old, surface chips to the edges and two or three old, short hairlines.
A stunning Tureen which displays beautifully.
