wonderful large fitted cabin trunk / wardrobe / portmanteau by top makers Hartmann with original interior and complete with working lock and key.
This very substantial metal trunk with metal bindings and rivet detail, opens to interior fitted with hangers , a small case and various sized drawers which are secured by a working locking bar mechanism.
The exterior has shipping company labels for the Union Castle Line who ran to and from England and South & East Africa, also with address labels, ship name of Dunnottar Castle and England labels.
With marks / scuffs / scratches and some rust to the catches etc. as one has to expect with a piece made for travelling the world, this incredibly heavy trunk is a real piece of history and is still in good sound condition , it needs to be seen to be fully appreciated.
