French LeMaire Paris Triple Optic Binoculars c1900
Larger than most examples of these highly sought-after triple lens binoculars, these brass binoculars are clad with a dark leather.
These hard-to-find glasses with three lenses changed by the wheel at the side and indicated across the bridge labelled " Theatre ", " Field " and " Marine ".
There is a bee engraved on the wheel on the side (the signature for LeMaire) together with a patent number. They are also lucky enough to have the signature of the retailer on both eye pieces, T. B. Winter & Sons / Newcastle On Tyne. They are also engraved on the brass, G. A. Telley and Newcastle On Tyne, presumably this is the original owner. There are also brass sun shades which pull out to reduce glare in bright light and sunshine, slight ware to the leather surface, commensurate with age.
They are beautifully clad in leather and have been painstakingly professionally polished to create a great looking instrument, all in excellent working condition and complete with a leather case with wear commensurate with age. 5" wide x 2 3/8" deep x 6" extending to 8 1/2".
