George V Silver Candlestick, H.C. Davis, 1925
Here we have a good quality George V Sterling Silver Candlestick from the 1920s. The candlestick has a round stepped base, a tapered stem and a bowl sconce. The base is weighted for stability.
The candlestick is made in Birmingham by Henry Clifford Davis and dates to 1925. Henry Davis founded his company in 1901 and produced a wide range of silverware for domestic and personal use. The firm remained in business up until the mid-1960s.
Condition is very good with just a few tiny dings in the stem and around the rim of the base plus the superficial surface wear that has to be expected after over 95 years of use. Please make sure to view all the photographs.
The candlestick is 15.3cm / 6ins high and 8.3cm / 3.2ins in diameter across the base. It weighs in at 297.5g / 10.5oz but this does include the weighting material in the base.
The hallmarks on the side rim of the base are nice and clear to read. They show the lion passant for Sterling Silver, the anchor assay mark for Birmingham, the date letter A for 1925 and the H.C.D makers' mark for Henry Clifford Davis.
Shipping in the UK is £6.50 by Royal Mail 1st Class Signed For Parcel Post.
