George V Silver Napkin Ring, Birmingham, 1934
This is an attractive George V Sterling Silver Napkin Ring. The napkin ring has scalloped rims to top and bottom and the body is pierced with a Greek Key design. There are no initials or personalisation of any kind.
The napkin ring was made in Birmingham by Crisford & Norris and dates to 1934. Harold Crisford & William Norris established their business in 1896 at premises in Vyse Street in Birmingham’s Jewellery Quarter. They are best known for their good quality and well designed small items for personal use, novelty baby rattles, pin cushions and stylish powder compacts. They remained in business up until around 1970.
Condition is very good, with no dings, dents or damage to the pierced section and just the superficial surface wear that you would expect with use and the passage of time. Please make sure to view all the photographs.
The napkin ring is 4.3cm / 1.7ins in diameter and 1.6cm / 0.63ins deep. It weighs in at 6.7g / 0.23oz of solid Sterling Silver.
The hallmarks, just below the top rim, are a little rubbed but still clear to read. They show the lion passant for Sterling Silver, the anchor assay mark for Birmingham, the date letter K for 1934 and the C & N makers' mark for Crisford & Norris.
Shipping in the UK is £6.50 by Royal Mail 1st Class Signed For Parcel Post.
