George V Silver Salt Spoon, Adie Bros, 1924
This is a good quality George V Sterling Silver Salt Spoon in the classic Old English pattern. There are no initials or personalisation of any kind.
The salt spoon was made in Birmingham by noted silversmiths Adie Brothers Ltd and dates to 1924. The firm was founded in 1906 when two established Birmingham silversmiths, McKewan & Adie and E.S. Barnsley & Co, were merged under the leadership of Percy Adie to form Adie Brothers Ltd. The company was very successful and produced a wide range of silverware until the 1960s when they were absorbed into British Silverware.
Condition is very good, with no dings or dents and just the superficial surface wear that you would expect after around 100 years of use. Please make sure to view all the photographs.
The salt spoon is 5.9cm / 2.3ins long and weighs in at 4.3g / 0.15oz of solid Sterling Silver.
The hallmarks, on the underside of the stem, are well struck and clear to read. They show the lion passant for Sterling Silver, the anchor assay mark for Birmingham, the date letter z for 1924 and the distinctive A Bros Ltd makers' mark for Adie Brothers Ltd.
Shipping in the UK is £4.50 by Royal Mail 1st Class Signed For.
Overseas customers, please ask us about shipping costs to your country before making a purchase.
